Trump supporter says riots ‘aren’t necessarily a bad thing’, then says OH DID I SAY THAT?

Trump supporter Scottie Nell Hughes told Wolf Blitzer today that the riots wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, talking about the riots Trump warned would happen if he were ‘disenfranchised’ out of the nomination at the convention.

Here’s the clip:

She uses the context of a brokered convention to justify her comments. But that’s not what Trump was talking about at all. He was talking about a contested convention and somebody like Kasich or Cruz winning the nomination over him even if he had a big lead.

When they came back from the break, Blitzer gave her an opportunity to clarify her ‘riots aren’t necessarily a bad thing’ comments, and she basically said she was referring to overwhelming emotion or something:

I’m not sure if she’s aware, but riots are an outburst of overwhelming emotion. Why not just say ‘protest’ if that’s what you mean. Why do you have to bend over backwards to try and redefine ‘riots’?

Oh probably because Trump said riots so we gotta stick with that word to make him not look stupid I guess.

Ugh.
