UGH: Terry Bradshaw compares ‘Redskins’ to the ‘N-word’

I was really hoping for more from Terry Bradshaw today as he commented on the Redskins name controversy. It’s bad enough that he thinks Dan Snyder should change the name to something other than ‘Redskins’, but to suggest that the word ‘Redskins’ is like using the ‘N-word’? C’mon dude, that’s ridiculous:

Terry’s whole argument why Snyder should change Washington’s name from ‘Redskins’ to something else is based upon controversy. If there’s no controversy there’s no problem. But if there is a controversy over a name, like ‘Seminoles’ or ‘Redskins’, then the owners ought to change the names to appease the people offended by it.

So how then can he compare the use of the word ‘Redskins’ to the ‘N-word’? Clearly, as much as he’s said ‘Redskins’ on TV, he couldn’t have thought it was like the ‘N-word’ or he wouldn’t have said it a million times. Did he think it was like the ‘N-word’ when he was quarterbacking? I’m guessing not.

Geez Terry, get some backbone or something. I like you a lot but this appeasement syndrome you appear to be suffering from isn’t doing you any favors.
