Even if you hadn’t heard all that we know about Bowe Bergdahl going AWOL, just watching this interview with Jay Carney should be enough to make you suspicious.
Carney is first asked by Cuomo about Bergdahl’s health and Carney replies that his ‘health was under pressure’ and that was one of the reasons they needed to get him out of there. You know, I’ve never heard anyone describe someone’s health as ‘being under pressure’. Whatever.
What really got me was when Cuomo asked if, since Bergdahl’s release, there had been a diagnosis to confirm his health problems. Carney dodged that question stating that they wanted to let Bergdahl heal in private and wouldn’t comment on his actual health status now.
But what’s the big deal about knowing what his health problems are, if indeed he has health problems? Why can’t we know…unless he doesn’t have health problems of the magnitude the administration is boasting, which we all suspect is the case.
But not only does Carney dodge about Bergdahl’s health, he also dodges a question about Bergdahl being a deserter and about whether the administration can really expect that these Taliban leaders won’t be released back into fighting with the Taliban. Carney claims they have a travel ban on these terrorists but he won’t substantiate how they can ensure these terrorists don’t return to the battlefield. And it’s because we know they can’t. I expect to hear reports in coming weeks that they are back in Afghanistan being praised for serving time in GITMO.
As I said, if you weren’t suspicious before this interview, you should be afterward.
