It is beyond clear that Kudlow has lost the battle when it comes to Trump’s high steel tariffs being imposed on our three biggest trading partners. And now he’s finally weighing in on the whole thing with spin that makes him sound like a hostage.
Here he is on Fox Business saying that it’s not a ‘trade war’, it’s a ‘trade dispute’ between ‘family members’:
.@Varneyco: "Is it a trade war?"@larry_kudlow: "It is not." pic.twitter.com/joaI8QVoFH

If you listen closely you can actually hear Stuart Varney chuckle when Kudlow says ‘family members’!
Look this isn’t rocket science. When we put high tariffs on our allies and then in turn do the same thing to us, it’s TRADE WAR. Kudlow is simply trying to spin this in the best possible way for Trump.
Here’s more spin:
.@larry_kudlow on @POTUS' tariffs: "He has to use them in order to achieve the goal of leveling the playing field and bringing down these barriers... and creating fair, equal trading conditions." pic.twitter.com/8cdF8dc97w

He has to use them? No he doesn’t. He’s using them because he’s not a free trader, he’s a protectionist!
.@larry_kudlow: "The trading system is a fossil, it's a dinosaur. It needs to be reformed. @realDonaldTrump is shaking the tree like he always does. He means it." pic.twitter.com/1yaQpmok1y

He’s just shaking the tree to reform the trading system? I’ll be sure and remember that when I’m paying 25% more for the next refrigerator I have to buy. Ugh.
It seems our allies don’t care much for this ‘tree shaking’ either. Canada just leveled retaliatory tariffs back on us:
