Voting to repeal Obamacare under VETO threat isn’t enough

Yesterday House Republicans voted to repeal Obamacare with a vote of 239 to 186. And while I applaud the sentiment, it’s not going to go anywhere even if it passes the Senate. It’s going to be vetoed by President Obamacare himself.

Sorry, but I just can’t get excited about this one iota. Why? Because there’s no movement behind it. Remember what Ted Cruz and Mike Lee did in 2013, running around the country to create a movement on the ground? That’s what Republicans should be doing right now.

If we are going to repeal Obamacare, we are going to need Democrats, plain and simple. But until there is a ground game pushing Democrats to vote to repeal Obamacare, what we’re doing now is not serious and just a waste of time.

The days of ‘making statements’ are over. Rome is burning and ineffective votes will do nothing to put out the flames.
