The media is digging into Romney’s past with willful glee trying to discredit him in order to protect Obama. Just yesterday Obama made his non-announcement that he thinks gay people should be able to get married, even though he doesn’t support it federally. So what does the WAPO do on the day after his non-announcement? They run a hit piece on Romney, digging 50 years into Romney’s school days to find that he once pranked a guy (who they say was presumed gay) and cut his hair. Of course they make it sound like vicious gay bullying. Problem is their story already has one hole in it (h/t: TheDC):

In trying to build their case, WAPO says that a friend of Romney, Stu White, has ‘long been bothered’ this incident that happened 50 years ago:

“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and has long been bothered by the Lauber incident. “But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks.”

Turns out Stu White told ABC News that he hadn’t even heard of this incident until this year when the WAPO contacted him:

While the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.

Why would WAPO report that? Sounds like they’ve been caught smearing Romney with lies…well, at least one lie. I wonder how many other lies are in this piece? My guess is more than one.

In any event, a blog called The Talk of the Times dug up an interesting tidbit from Obama’s first book, Dreams of my Father, where he talks about how he bullied a girl because others started teasing him:

It’s 2008 all over again. They dig deep to smear Romney as an anti-gay bully exactly one day after Obama gives lip service to gay marriage. But they won’t even report on what is in Obama’s own book, that he bullied a girl. Oh wait, that sounds like Obama’s war on women started a lot longer than we knew!

But this isn’t a surprise as we knew the media would fight like hell to keep Obama elected. Thankfully they aren’t the only media any longer.

Oh yeah, Obama did illegal drugs in high school and college.

I’m shocked. Just shocked, I tell you!!! A reputable rag like WAPO making something up.
    What’s this world coming to… /sarc off

    • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Me too! And I’m shocked that kids back then were bullies! Whatever did kids do when they were bullied back then?!

      • Amy

In my time we whooped some butt…

My favorite scene for bullying is in A Christmas Story when Ralphie opens a can of you know what on the bully. He’d had enough and the bully pushed him too far that day. :-)

But then again, our culture now teaches that violence is an ‘unacceptable’ response to anything in life. Even bullying. :-( Which makes those who would be so inclined to bully that much more powerful.

        • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

LOL Yeah. I liked Ralphie’s revenge. Me, I was a scrawny geeky kid all the way through school and got teased and bullied a lot, until I found it very handy to have a few friends who were a lot bigger than me ;-)

          • GreenBeretWay

            And a louisville slugger.

            • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

There ya go! ;-D Well, that came a little later but has the same effect.

          • Amy

I’m a big sister of a ‘skinny’ scrawny geek :-) I tended to be a very quiet, studious girl – unless you messed with Angie. If you did that, you were toast. I’d knock your block off. I may get bloodied up (and I did) in the process, but you were going to know I was not happy with you. My dad taught us girls self defense and gave us permission to use it. He would always tell us to use words first, but never, never let someone weaker get pushed around. Even if it meant a physical fight. We would have been in serious trouble though if we had started a fight. That just wasn’t tolerated.

That’s what we’ve lost in today’s society. Somehow, standing up for yourself or someone else is wrong. I must confess I don’t get it. Even the animal kingdom defends themselves and their offspring.

            • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

On behalf of skinny scrawny geeky kids (and I was also a 4 eyes) thank you Amy! ((()))s!

When I was a kid (still kinda am) I was at a family reunion at a park.My Aunt told me to go find my cousins to come eat. Well I found them being terrorized by a 15 year old boy. They were 4-7 years old and this punk had them lined up against the wall shooting them with a BB gun.The boy was sitting on his scooter,I grabbed him from behind, picked up the scooter and flung it halfway across the park and proceeded to beat the living snot out of him.I had to hold back or I probably would have killed him.The cops came to my little part time job the next day to try and arrest me.When I told them what the punk had done, they congratulated me and let me go.
The boy had told them and his parents that I had just beat his a$$ for no reason. They went to his house after hearing the whole story and arrested him for the crime and filing a false police report.

              • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

                :-D

                Justice is so sweet :-D

              • DebbyX

                Way to go!

              • badbadlibs

Those were the days when police officers could make judgements like that. Today you probably would have had to be hauled in and went before some liberal bleeding heart judge and you would be the one in trouble..*sigh*.
What a great read, thanks for sharing!

      • GreenBeretWay

Romney pulled my pig tails in the 2nd grade.I’m calling WAPO and reporting the story.

Expect to see me on the cover of Time Magazine next week. LOL

        • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

You just made my day lol. I’ve been bored silly and a little more than depressed with all the garbage passing for news. If I ever see mittens, I’m gonna punch him in the nose ;-)

          • GreenBeretWay

If your up and ready to bloody noses I take it you are feeling back to your normal self? Your duck picture has me somewhat worried.

            • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

I’ve about lost my voice (could be a good thing for those who live with me lol) but yes, I’m getting better. As for my avatar- I’m in a yucky place emotionally so that’s gonna be it until I shake it off. Don’t worry- I’m still me undernieth.

              • GreenBeretWay

Cheer up Duckie.November will be here before you know it.Just get yourself well ok?

                • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Yes sir. I’m workin’ on it. :-)

                • badbadlibs

I know how you feel, and I’m sorry you are in that kind of state. :(
The thing I do that may help you too, is I remember Paul said to King Agrippa, “I THINK myself happy” :) I may have to “think” it often, it does serve to remind me that God is in charge when all is said and down and even in the meantime! :) Be well, my friend.

                • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Thank you badbad. I get in these yucky funks every now and then. The thing is they get a little harder every time. But, with sweet friends and an unending supply of ways I am shown and reminded that I am SO blessed, I am able to still get through them. Thank you for your support too my friend. ((()))s!!

              • Amy

Being sick can take it’s toll on your emotional health – add to that the chaos of today’s world? It can be overwhelming.

When I’m in one of those moods, I always take a little comfort in the fact that even Daniel took to his bed on occassion after God revealed what he had in store. I believe firmly in what God has planned, but it certainly doesn’t mean that I can always handle what’s going on.

                Prayers sent upward ABiC :-)

                • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Thank you Amy. I so appreciate prayers! Yeah, overwhelming is a good word. I know the end of the story, but it’s getting through this bit now that’s the tough part.

    UNDERGROUND

    Under water grottos, caverns
    Filled with apes
    That eat figs.
    Stepping on the figs
    That the apes
    Eat, they crunch.
    The apes howl, bare
    Their fangs, dance,
    Tumble in the
    Rushing water,
    Musty, wet pelts
    Glistening in the blue.

This is just the beginning of things that the MSM are going to bring up. Yet they couldn’t be bothered to vet Obama back in 2008.

    • badbadlibs

That is a disgusting and infuriating truth!

  • Arrrggghhh

Anything to not address the issue that will devastate the quality of our lives as well as our children’s lives: $15.7 trillion in debt. One-third of it has been accumulated in Obama’s first 3.5 years in office.

And the media is focusing on something that literally a child did almost 50 years ago.

    God help us.

    • c4pfan

Well, the press did with Sarah Palin by trashing her for anything her kids said or alledgely say or did. Heck, they would use anything that Levi’s family did and use it against her.

      • Arrrggghhh

I’m thinking/hoping that they’ve played the same card for too long and it may just backfire big time. It appeared to in November 2010. Sarah was very green when it happened t her in 2008 but she’s learned to turn the tables on the bastards. Everyone else has learned as well. It was such a pleasure hearing Newt rip the media while he was in play. The jig is up.

When the Chinese and our other creditors (enablers) turn off the spigot and the real pain begins, the media will really be feeling the heat.

  • welltempered2

Too bad it won’t work this time. The die is cast.

  • NJK

Did they mention that Obama allegedly dabbled in gay sex? Did they mention his cocaine use, or that he is friends with various members of the Weather Undergound and Muslim Brotherhood?

I wouldn’t worry too much about this, it will sway no one but the radical left. If you’re a sane American you know what you are seeing with that impostor in the White House. We know he’s committing economic terrorism.

I don’t know if this is true or not, but nothing would surprise me about this guy. If he made your skin crawl before, this will go beyond that.

  • jackl92

This is so much garbage. The MSM is asking nothing about O’s college transcripts.

  • 12grace
  • 12grace

Oh yeah, Obama did illegal drugs in high school and college.

When did he stop using drugs?

    • keyesforpres

You can tell he still does them. He looks high in many of his pictures.

  • c4pfan

It’s all silly. We all know that the press isn’t going to go after Obama. I do give credit to Romney for the answer he gave to this, but he better be prepared to face even worse than this stuff. Funny, when it was other Republicans, he sure hides from supporting them though.

  • Steve Furr

And, yet, you ignore the following tidbits attributed to another classmate from the very same ABC story you cite (sounds like cherry-picking to me — independent sources seem to corroborate WaPo’s story more so than a minor inconsistency deflates it. Had it occurred to you that the reporter’s notes were a little jumbled):

One former classmate and old friend of Romney’s – who refused to be identified by name – said there are “a lot of guys” who went to Cranbrook who have “really negative memories” of Romney’s behavior in the dorms, behavior this classmate describes as “like Lord of the Flies.”

The classmate believes Romney is lying when he claims to not remember it.

“It makes these fellows [who have owned up to it] very remorseful. For [Romney] not to remember it? It doesn’t ring true. How could the fellow with the scissors forget it?” the former classmate said.

    • onewaypockets

Hey Steve, when old friends “refuse to be identified by name” come out…it never happened. Prove it did ass wipe.

    • badbadlibs

What a pathetic topic in the first place, compared to bo’s past this doesn’t even rate a blip on any radar screen, excpet for the most desperate.

    • 12grace

Are you actually comparing the “Leave it to Beaver-like” childhood of Romney to the Mao- lovin, Weather Underground terrorist influences, upbringing of obama aka barry sotoro?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1388784674 Joel Cruz

I’d rather vote for a bully than a coke sniffing, dog eating Marxist.

    • badbadlibs

Excep the “bully” charge is so overblown it’s to be laughable.

      • Linky1

The only thing “bully” about Obama is the pulpit he rules from.

  • REHLV

Hey. I have a question. Has anyone bothered to check and see if this person was gay. Actually in the sixties they did not use the word gay. I would be very interested to hear about the victim in this prank…. Maybe it was just what it was. A prank. I graduated high school in 1961 and I can tell you some stories that the seniors did to us as freshmen. If anyone has any real information on the victim as it were in this story, I would love to see it.

Romney looks like the making of a real leader to me. Get the rest of the dorm to follow him and make a decision, and then follow through. Bravo…. A leader in the making..

The media is only catering to the Obama fools the rest of the people that have a mind of their own will ignore these stories for what they are. The media is continuing to reduce their influence and trustworthiness also.

  • daisybud

If Obama was so strung out on drugs during his high school days, he must have had lousy grades. How did he get into Harvard or any other “reputable” college?
