When Trump made his comment yesterday about ‘very fine people’, he actually said there were very fine people on both sides:
But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides
Here’s the fuller context of his comment:
TRUMP: Excuse me, excuse me. (inaudible) themselves (inaudible) and you have some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group — excuse me, excuse me — I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.
Look, this is what Trump does. I don’t honestly think he knew if there were any good people there at all, I think he just said it because he always says stuff like this, as if to cover all his bases or something.
Also we all know that tearing down these statues is ridiculous and I think Trump believes the same thing. So in his mind people who were there simply to protest peacefully are good people.
But he just blurts it out without really knowing and then he has to sound like he knows what he’s talking about.
Do you guys remember back in June of 2015 when Trump was talking about rapists coming across the border of Mexico? He said this:
When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
As I said, he does this all the time and yesterday he essentially did the same thing.
My point is Trump wasn’t calling Nazis, white supremacists or even Antifa thugs ‘good people’, as Barfy suggested in the clip above. Politician Trump isn’t a new phenomenon now. We have well over two years of his remarks and speeches. He’s not that hard to figure out and if these people like Barfy were being honest, they’d admit that too.
