While at the G20 Summit in China, Obama was asked about Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem. Of course, he defended Kaepernick:
.@POTUS says Colin Kaepernick "exercising his constitutional right" in protest: "I don't doubt his sincerity." https://t.co/tx85gquEPm

Obama said Kaepernick was exercising his constitutional right by not standing for the flag, but also pointed out that he understood why those in the military and those who fought for this country wouldn’t like it.
But Obama wouldn’t condemn the protest in anyway. Rather he praised Kaepernick’s sincerity, saying he cares about “real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about” and was happy about the attention Kaepernick has bringing to those issues.
Ugh.
I’m not a big Saints fan but I’ll take Drew Brees over Obama any day. Brees truly understands what the flag means, which is why he condemned Kaepernick for disrespecting the flag.
Obama just sees it as an opportunity to try and give more legitimacy to a phony issue.
