WATCH: Ted Cruz DEFENDS Sessions, calls allegations a NOTHINGBURGER

Ted Cruz was on with Morning Joe this morning and defended Sessions over these phony allegations that he lied and called all of it a nothingburger:

At times in this interview, I felt like Cruz himself was getting grilled over this. Ugh.

Cruz did say that Sessions should have been more clear, as he said Sessions admitted himself. But Cruz vigorously defended him otherwise, pointing out that Sessions didn’t lie during his testimony and that it was his job to meet with foreign ambassadors.

What’s amazing to me is that one of these so-called meetings wasn’t even a one-on-one meeting:

The Justice Department said late Wednesday that one of the discussions between Sessions and Sergey Kislyak was an office visit that occurred in Sessions’ capacity as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. The second conversation took place in a group setting with other ambassadors following a Heritage Foundation speech.

It’s been said that they just shook hands and that’s it. That tells you right there that this is just a phony campaign to target Trump’s DOJ.

I’m glad Ted Cruz defended him and didn’t add to the avalanche of negative coverage flying around in the news media this morning, like some other milquetoast Republicans are doing.
