Wichita Marty Cole says he’s not letting a deadly shooting in Chattanooga overshadow the work of Marines – especially those whose lives were lost Thursday afternoon.

Cole is standing on a corner in downtown Wichita, holding a handwritten sign on cardboard that reads, “YEA…WE CAN BE KILLED MARINES BUT NEVER!! BEATEN”

Cole said when he heard about Thursday’s shooting, he couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. He took a message for his fallen brothers to the streets.

“Marines are dying and I can’t sit at home & do nothing. This is where I am and this is what I can do,” said Cole.

A gunman killed four Marines at two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn, on Thursday. Two other service members were also wounded. Eyewitness News has learned that one of the wounded has a mother that lives in Kansas.
