The Democrats are trying to make as much of an issue as possible over subpoenaing the translator of the Trump-Putin meeting when they know it’s never going to happen. Even if Republicans agreed on the premise, it would have a chilling effect on any future meeting between the president and a foreign leader. Also, executive privilege would NEVER allow this translator to be subpoenaed in the first place.
Be that as it may, an election is coming up and Democrats are grasping at any straw they can to win the Congress back.
Enter weasel Adam Schiff. If you want, you an skip to just before the 2 minute mark as that’s when the debate between Schiff and Nunes happens:

When the hearing is brought back in from recess, Schiff makes his motion again. A Republican member, Conaway, then makes a motion to table Schiff’s motion. A vote is required and Schiff loses 11-6. Which shows you right there just how committed Schiff was to winning this motion, that he only had 6 out of his 9 members present. They still would have lost but the least he could have done was have all his members present. In fact they had less members present for the vote than they did before the recess.
Just more kabuki theater by the Democrats.
