OK listen I’m gonna fess up here and admit that I have been holding out and defending Avenatti as not totally insane while many of my friends and political acquaintances have tried to convince me he’s crazy.
I will admit, they were 100% right and I was 100% kinda not-right:

Michael Avenatti, the attorney for adult film star Stormy Daniels, set off Independence Day fireworks on Twitter Wednesday when he declared that he would run for president in 2020 if President Trump seeks re-election and if Avenatti believes no other candidate can win.
Avenatti tweeted Wednesday morning that “only a street fighter has a chance at displacing the ‘King.’ Otherwise, this country and its principles will be in pieces and non-recognizable.” The tweet accompanied a photograph of the New York Daily News front page featuring Trump in clown makeup and wearing a broken crown.
Yeah that’s a total joke. I understand that people saw Trump make an unbelievably unpredictable jump from reality tv to the presidency, but that was a one-time thing. It doesn’t mean that any idiot can become president now. And Avenatti is definitely not the idiot to make the jump from relative obscurity on CNN to the presidency. But Trump derangement comes in many forms…
