🐶 Bill Melugin rescues abandoned Saint Bernard near southern border in Jacumba

While Bill Melugin was reporting from Jacumba, California today at the southern border, he found a very thirsty Saint Bernard that had likely been abandoned.

Melugin piled the dog in his work vehicle and took him down to the local sheriff’s department. He called animal control but no one was available. Melugin says he’s already been in contact with some people interested in taking care of the dog.

Here’s more from Melugin:

Never a dull day. We encountered this sweet & handsome St. Bernard wandering on a highway in Jacumba. Seemed to be abandoned/dumped. We gave him 4 bottles of water, called some animal/rescue folks, nobody immediately available. The @SDSheriff Pine Valley station was kind enough to let us drive him over & take him in & kennel him. (Yes, we are in touch with local people who want to help him and yes, we gave the deputy their names etc).

Very sweet boy. Didn’t make a sound. Unfortunately, definitely seemed like an abandoned pet. Poor guy was so thirsty, dirty, and was shaking. Locals tell us, unfortunately, a lot of dogs get abandoned out here.
Hopefully this is the start of a new beginning for him! ❤️🐶

What a great story for a Friday. Use this as an open thread…
