🚨🚨BREAKING: Vice President Vance breaks the tie, Hegseth is the new Secretary of Defense!

MAJOR UPDATE: Vice President JD Vance just broke the 50-50 tie in the Senate and now Pete Hegseth is the new Secretary of Defense!

AWESOME!

President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, will be confirmed tonight in the Senate. Both Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins voted against Hegseth’s confirmation and McConnell is expected to as well.

But Thom Tillis, who was thought might vote against Hegseth, put out a statement that he was voting FOR Hegseth:

From the beginning, I have been clear about my position: if President Trump’s nominees were reported favorably out of the relevant committees, I would support their confirmation on the Senate floor absent new material information about their qualifications. Once Pete Hegseth’s nomination was sent to the floor by my colleagues on the Senate Armed Services Committee, I conducted my own due diligence, including asking tough questions of Pete and I appreciated his candor and openness in answering them.

Pete has a unique perspective as a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and is unquestionably passionate about modernizing our military and supporting the brave patriots like himself who serve our nation. I will support his confirmation and look forward to working with him to rebuild our military and advance President Trump’s peace through strength agenda.

So now it doesn’t matter if McConnell votes no because Vice President JD Vance is in the building and he will break the tie and confirm Hegseth.

The Department of Defense is about to get a RUDE awakening and it can’t happen soon enough. Congratulations Pete!

UPDATE: McConnell did indeed vote no:

It’s long past time for RINO McConnell to retire and get the heck out.

UPDATE II: The vote is in and it’s 50-50, which means Vice President Vance will break the tie.
