1 DEAD, 3 WOUNDED — Here’s the other Anti-Cop shooting you probably DIDN’T hear about

While all eyes are focused on Dallas, there was another anti-Cop shooting yesterday morning that took one woman’s life and wounded three others, including a police officer. And just like Dallas, it was motivated by the anti-Cop sentiment going around over the shootings earlier this week:

WBRZ – Authorities in Tennessee say a man who opened fire on a highway in Tennessee targeted police officers and others because he was troubled by incidents involving black people and law enforcement officers.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that initial conversations with the suspect, identified as Lakeem Keon Scott revealed he was troubled by incidents across the U.S. The TBI says the suspect is black; the shooting victims are all white.

Investigators say Scott killed one person and wounded three others, including a police officer. Scott had two guns early Thursday morning when he shot at a motel in Bristol, Tennessee, and then shot indiscriminately at several passing cars. When he was confronted by police, he fired at the three officers who responded.

The suspect was shot by the officers and is being treated at a hospital. He has not yet been charged.

Here’s the longer version:

WJHL – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released the name of the suspect behind Thursday morning’s series of shootings in Bristol, TN that claimed the life of an area newspaper carrier and injured three others, including a local police officer.

The TBI says 37-year-old Lakeem Keon Scott “acted alone” and was armed with at least two weapons, an “automatic-style” rifle, a pistol and a large amount of ammunition.

Investigators spoke with Scott Friday morning. Preliminary findings indicate Scott may have targeted people and officers after being troubled by recent events involving black people and law enforcement officers in other parts of the country.

Around 2:20 a.m. Thursday morning, investigators say he fired shots through the window of Days Inn on Volunteer Parkway, striking Roberts, a clerk at the motel.

Scott randomly shot at drivers along Volunteer Parkway before he was confronted by officers from the Bristol, TN Police Department. Investigators say Scott fired at the three responding officers. Officers returned fire, hitting Scott, who was then taken to the Bristol Regional Medical Center where he remains in serious but stable condition.

The TBI is investigating the circumstances surrounding this random shooting at the request, they say, of Second District Attorney General Barry Staubus.

Agents say “the work to develop a thorough understanding of his motivation for this incident remains central to the ongoing investigative work.”
