911 dispatcher: All hell has broken loose in Chicago

A 911 dispatcher who has his ear close to the ground describes chaos on the city streets when it comes to violent crime in the Windy City:

Here’s a little of what Keith Thornton said:

What’s going on in Chicago? All hell has broken loose. It’s been shenanigans and it’s just non stop day after day. It doesn’t matter if it’s morning time, evening time, whatever, at all hours of the day there is a massive amount of crime taking place in the city of Chicago. It’s horrendous. People are being shot, killed; it doesn’t matter what age you are; it doesn’t matter if you are female or male anymore. But what’s more, just horrible is the lack of leadership, the failure of leadership throughout this entire city of Chicago. It’s ridiculous because it does not have to be this way.

Thornton says the problem in Chicago is leadership, arguing that the police department is micromanaged by the mayor and that the officers do not like it. With the incredible surge in murders since 2019, which is somewhere over 800% now, he says that all this blood is on the mayor’s hands.
