Everyone is talking about this nutty debate that goes completely off the rails between naive Trumpy Ben Ferguson and kinda mean and condescending NeverTrumper Rick Wilson.

So to be fair to Ferguson, Wilson rips into him personally pretty early on. He should have stayed away from the ad hominem so early. That allowed Ferguson to be as insulting as possible since Wilson started with the personal insults.
BUT Ferguson is offering a pretty simplistic and unrealistic view. Wilson specifically says that even a conventional war, not a nuclear one, would cost millions of lives in South Korea. Ferguson doesn’t address that all, and that’s pretty intellectually dishonest.
It’s absolutely a false choice fallacy for Ferguson to say that you can’t criticize Trump’s approach because the last few years of diplomacy have failed. You can hold both ideas at the same time without being contradictory, and for Ferguson to pretend otherwise is either dishonest or just stupid.
The dude actually says it was a failure for “kumbaya policy” to go to Japan and then sit back and see what happens. But all Trump has done is do that with China. It’s shameful that people can’t debate honestly anymore. And with so much at stake, it’s absolutely dangerous to pretend the solutions are easy and Trump is hashtag winning all the things.
