The teacher, Jesse Randall Davidson, 53, who fired a gun in a Georgia classroom yesterday had barricaded himself into the classroom during his planning period and was not allowing anyone entrance. When the principal attempted to use a key to enter the classroom, the teacher fired his handgun toward an exterior window of the classroom, not aiming the gun at anyone according to police.

It sounds to me like the gunshot was a warning shot not to enter his classroom. Pretty drastic though, but it doesn’t appear from what we know that he was trying to hurt anyone.
Apparently this teacher had run-ins with police prior to this incident:
Police revealed details about the high school teacher’s past, including when Davidson went to detectives on March 21, 2016, and said he arranged to have someone killed, AJC reported, citing a police report. He reportedly ordered to have the individual killed because he had an online affair.
Police said they couldn’t verify what Davidson told them or if the individual existed. Davidson was taken to the hospital “based on him thinking about hurting himself,” the police report stated.
The school was aware of the incident at the time.
In another incident that occurred January 2017, Davidson was found sitting on the curb about a mile away from Dalton High School and refused to respond to police, the report stated. Davidson had left school early that day after he said he wasn’t feeling well.
Davidson was taken to the hospital and police did not take further action.
So he tried to have someone killed? Unverifiable or not, that is disturbing.
At the moment we don’t know Davidson’s motive for yesterday’s gunshot, but I’m still wondering at some point if we’re going to find out that he is a gun-control advocate and was trying to make a statement about teachers carrying guns in school or something.
Or maybe he is just mentally ill or something. One thing is for sure: his occupation as a teacher is over.
