Thad Cochran, who’s been a Republican Senator since 1978 (almost as long as I’ve been alive), is now retiring due to his poor health:

I think he’s just three years into a 6-year term, so that means there will probably be a special election this year to see who will replace him.
I hate that his health is bad, however I’m not sad to see him go considering how sleazily he fought in 2014 to win against a conservative challenger, even calling the Tea Party racist.
