A new poll has come out that questioned whether voters want to see Trump impeached and the answer, while not surprising, is somewhat interesting:
NY POST – American voters by a 56 to 36 percent margin said they do not want Congress to impeach President Trump, according to a new poll released on Wednesday.
Although they back Democratic candidates over Republicans by a 14 percent margin – 52 to 38 percent margin – they don’t want Congress to take action against Trump, a Quinnipiac University National Poll said.
“American voters don’t want Congress to tell President Donald Trump, ‘You’re fired!’ by serving him with articles of impeachment,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll.
But the survey showed that voters – 72 to 18 percent – disapprove of the job Congress is doing, and by a 58 to 27 percent margin believe the legislative body should be more of a check on the president.
Republicans by a 62 to 11 percent margin say Congress is doing enough.
While a majority in the poll favor Democrats, they also do not want Trump impeached. That’s interesting.
Here’s the breakdown of the impeachment question:
Notice how the numbers change on the question of whether they prefer a Republican vs a Democrat:
Both independents and Democrats are both much lower on the question of impeachment than on preferring a Democratic candidate.
Here’s the lowdown of the polling:
The poll surveyed 1,038 voters nationwide between Sept. 6 – 9 and has a plus/minus 3.7 percentage point margin of error.
It doesn’t specify whether they are likely voters are registered voters. You can read more about the poll here.
