The Women’s March has been hit by devastating evidence that the leaders are indulging in anti-semitism, but that’s not the reason one demonstration was cancelled in Eureka, California.
It was cancelled because it was “overwhelmingly white”:
The organizers of the annual Women’s March have decided not to hold a rally in Eureka on Jan. 19, as previously planned, because they say participants do not represent the diversity of the area.
“This decision was made after many conversations between local social-change organizers and supporters of the march,” organizers said in a press release.
They said organizers will continue to meet and discuss how to broaden representation to create an event that represents Humboldt County.
“Up to this point, the participants have been overwhelmingly white, lacking representation from several perspectives in our community,” the press release went on to say. “Instead of pushing forward with crucial voices absent, the organizing team will take time for more outreach. Our goal is that planning will continue and we will be successful in creating an event that will build power and community engagement through connection between women that seek to improve the lives of all in our community.”
LOL!! There’s all sorts of reasons why the only participants in your demonstration that show up might be white, but it takes a liberal to see that as a insurmountable problem. You would think maybe they could solve their problem by, oh, I dunno… inviting non-white participants? Nope, we can’t be walking into THOSE neighborhoods… just cancel it!!! LOL!
UPDATE:
Check this out – I was wondering if maybe part of the reason the demonstration was so white was because of the demographics of the area, and a resident from the city of Eureka reached out to me to confirm that is likely the reason:
Your last article about the Women’s March Cancellation was pretty funny as I live in Eureka!
It’s a town of about 30,000, 5 hours North of SF, right on the coast. There are a few other towns that surround us too.
The libs out here are about as lib as you can get lol.
I have no clue about the Women’s March stuff here, I didn’t even know there was one (neither did my wife or mom; not that they would go anyway) but the area happens to be “overwhelmingly” white. It’s just the demographics. The turnout was probably going to be embarrassingly low so they made up that excuse about representation.
Not that matters either way but pretty funny to see our little city in the “Lost Coast” on your site and Drudges!
I knew it!! Good to hear confirmation from our local Eureka correspondent on the ground!!
