HERE WE GO: Democrats target Jared Kushner’s White House security clearance

Democrat Elijah Cummings says the oversight committee is going to investigate White House security clearances, including Jared Kushner’s:

I’m not a special pleader for Kushner by any means, but we know the process of getting him a permanent security clearance took over a year before it was finally granted. This is from the New York Times back in May of last year:

Mr. Kushner’s F.B.I. background checks had dragged on for a year. White House officials were adamant that the lengthy process was not unusual for a government official who has a complicated financial history and many foreign contacts.

…Mr. Kushner’s clearances were approved by career officials after the completion of the F.B.I. background check and that the president was not involved in the process.

So career FBI officials investigated Kushner for over a year and cleared him to be granted a personal security clearance, yet Elijah Cummings is now wanting to make hay out of it again?

No, what they are really doing is turning over every stone they can find in order to see if there is anything they can use to take out Trump. That’s what this is all about. And if they can’t find a smoking gun, they’ll try and build one out of a bunch of little matches. And if they have to, they’ll try and take out as many people as they can to get to Trump, starting with Kushner.
