Today the AP fell right into Beto O’Rourke’s trap.
They actually printed in their story last night that Beto spoke to potential voters in his native language:
This is @AP coverage of the #Beto launch rally. … he "spoke at length in his native Spanish…"

Spanish? LOL!
This is the very reason why so many voters around the state of Texas insisted on calling him Robert O’Rourke instead of Beto during the 2018 elections.
The AP did, however, make the necessary correction after criticism of the mistake:
After the criticism, AP appended a correction to its story, reading: “In a story March 31 about a Beto O’Rourke campaign rally, The Associated Press reported erroneously that O’Rourke spoke to a rally in his native Spanish. O’Rourke is not a native Spanish speaker.”
Ted Cruz picked up on this a little while ago and responded with is own bit of mocking:
Impressive. AP reports Beto gave campaign speech in his “native” language. Wow — I’ve never heard a campaign rally in Gaelic. #AprilFools https://t.co/TVY0SqhxIP

Gaelic! Ha, I love it!
