Most presidential candidates can count on the support of their home state, but not one Mayor de Blasio, who is thinking of running for the democratic nomination.
This is just embarrassing:
He says he’s not a betting man, but Mayor Bill de Blasio’s taking a major gamble on a potential presidential run while New Yorkers increasingly say he’s got no chance at the job.
A recent Quinnipiac poll that found a staggering 76 percent of New York City voters don’t want de Blasio to run for president in 2020.
An earlier Quinnipiac poll, released in March, singled him out as the only possible 2020 Democratic contender to garner a negative net favorability rating among New York Democrats.
But hey, this is the Democratic primary – they don’t let reality horn in on their economic, social, or foreign policies, why would they let reality govern their race?!
Intent on trying his luck, de Blasio traveled to Las Vegas on Saturday. Asked about the naysaying outside a union health center, de Blasio showed his signature stubbornness.
“I think in the end this whole concept of polls — it’s April 2019 — the polls in April 2019 bear no resemblance to what you’re going to see in the second half of 2020. It’s just an obvious fact,” the mayor said.
“Things change as people get to hear your vision and your message,” he added
Yes, please keep running, we love seeing you humiliated…
