Yesterday we told you that Donald Trump Jr. was being subpoenaed by Senator Burr in the Intelligence Committee, a day after McConnell said the “case is closed” on the Russia investigation.
Well since then several big named Republicans have come out against this subpoena:
.@DonaldJTrumpJr has already spent dozens of hours testifying in front of Congressional committees. Endless investigations—by either party—won’t change the fact that there was NO collusion. It’s time to move on. It’s time to focus on ISSUES, not investigations. https://t.co/fbFH5uMLUz

Apparently the Republican chair of the Senate Intel Committee didn’t get the memo from the Majority Leader that this case was closed… https://t.co/jvV5PIX266

Including Burr’s fellow North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis:
I agree with Leader McConnell: this case is closed. The Mueller Report cleared @DonaldJTrumpJr and he’s already spent 27 hours testifying before Congress. Dems have made it clear this is all about politics. It’s time to move on & start focusing on issues that matter to Americans. https://t.co/11THs9LE0j

Last night Devin Nunes weighed in on this too, picked up by the Daily Caller:
Nunes says the numbers are much tighter in the Senate Intel Committee between Republicans and Democrats and assumes that an agreement must’ve been made, based on Michael Cohen’s testimony who is now in prison, to bring Trump Jr. in to see if he’ll keep his same story or admit to talking about this to his father.
What’s so perplexing about this, according to Nunes, is that the entire meeting in Trump Tower itself was with “Fusion Russians”, noting that Clinton-hired Fusion GPS was in on this meeting all along.
So far the subpoena hasn’t been withdrawn by Burr. We’ll let you know if that happens down the road.
