After multiple appeals from affected users and Leader McConnell’s team confirming their intent to highlight the threats for public discussion, we have reviewed this case more closely.

The context of the tweet means everything and Twitter should have understood this from the beginning. It’s not rocket science.
I am glad, though, that the pressure from the right forced them to reevaluate and thus release McConnell’s campaign account. Hopefully this won’t happen again.
