Biden made a weird argument today on behalf of women’s equal rights, suggesting that because of Japan’s xenophobia women are encouraged to remain in the workforce, which is a good thing:
Biden starts out suggesting that a country can’t succeed if women are left out of the workforce. He calls it a law of economics. He then praises Japan for encouraging women to work, which is against their traditions. He explains:
The tradition was that once [women] had a child, they were to drop out of the job market. Well I spent a lot of time with President Abe as vice president and guess what? It’s called Abe Economics…they’re calling it. And that is there’s an entire move, because they are xenophobic, because they do no want to invite other people from outside their country to come in and make up the workforce, they had fewer workers than they had the need for workers. So what they’ve done is they decided to encourage women to stay in the job market.
Hurray for xenophobia?
Now this is an interesting argument, because Biden would absolutely decry xenophobia here in the United States as racism and bigotry. In fact Democrats are already accusing Trump of being xenophobic because he’s trying to build a wall to help enforce our borders against illegal entry.
So I guess being against ‘immigration’ is ok as long as it puts more women to work.
You know, this reminds me of when Joe Biden went to China and said that he wasn’t going to “second guess” their horrific one-child policy.
