In his Christmas message today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was gracious enough to remember the plight of persecuted Christians around the world, noting that they would be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in private, in secret, and perhaps even in a jail cell:
Whoever you are, wherever you are, and however you’re celebrating, have a very happy Christmas, and I’ll see you all again in the New Year. pic.twitter.com/h6xcxSUszv

“Today of all days, I want us to remember those Christians around the world who are facing persecution. For them, Christmas day will be marked in private, in secret, perhaps in a prison cell. As Prime Minister, that’s something that I want to change. We stand with Christians everywhere, in solidarity, and will defend your right to practice your faith.”
What a beautiful message from Johnson, and one which reminds us that while we are celebrating our Savior’s birth tonight and tomorrow, whether with our families or in church, that we should remember and pray for those Christians who are suffering around the world. We should be thankful that we are fortunate enough to celebrate with those we love and not take it for granted. But we should also remember that the suffering of those persecuted Christians around the world is not in vain, but is counted greatly to our Father in Heaven, to His sacred heart.
