BREAKING: Pelosi surrenders to McConnell on impeachment!

Nancy Pelosi has announced today that she is surrendering in her fight to try and control the Senate with regard to impeachment. It turns out that McConnell signing onto Hawley’s bill yesterday is the straw that broke the camel’s back:

For weeks now, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has been engaged in tactics of delay in presenting transparency, disregard for the American people’s interest for a fair trial and dismissal of the facts.

Yesterday, he showed his true colors and made his intentions to stonewall a fair trial even clearer by signing on to a resolution that would dismiss the charges. A dismissal is a cover-up and deprives the American people of the truth. Leader McConnell’s tactics are a clear indication of the fear that he and President Trump have regarding the facts of the President’s violations for which he was impeached.

He didn’t show any colors. He simply put all his cards on the table and called her bluff and she lost!

She writes that she will be sending over the impeachment articles next week:

I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate. I will be consulting with you at our Tuesday House Democratic Caucus meeting on how we proceed further.

Technically the Senate could still enact Hawley’s bill because the deadline is on Sunday. But I suspect it was just a tactic by the Leader to bring about Pelosi’s surrender and McConnell and the White House will proceed with a quick trial, hearing the arguments from the House, a rebuttal from the White House and then a vote to clear Trump of these ridiculous charges.
