A Methodist pastor is apologizing to Trump supporters after he fell for a hoax and mocked them for no reason.
It starts with this picture that has been going around Twitter:
Actually we need to talk about this for a second.
I first saw this photo from someone who was making fun of it.
I joined in the fun – because it's a terrible sign.
I saw zero posts affirming it. Nobody I know is okay with this post.
But then.. pic.twitter.com/ZIpAkl5RnA

It is truly a terrible sign, but it’s not what you think.
He continues…
Then a friend pointed out that this is a super handy way to make Trump supporters look like idiots.
And I wondered – where did it come from?
Who made this sign, and did they mean it?
I just assumed and I used it as a rallying cry to virtue signal and earn cheap "likes"

But it nagged me.
Trump supporters are a well known punching bag of the media.
It's SO terrible a sign. Surely it's not real. Such low hanging fruit – right?
Well – yeah, apparently:https://t.co/GbWKmQuoQ3

If you don't feel like clicking the link- it's a Snopes article.
Sign is real: from a Democrat in New Jersey who makes fun of Trump supporters.
And i totally bought it. I realized I was part of the problem. So eager to point out problems in others – so willing

We're not going to ever be able to talk if we keep punching each other in the face.
This one is my fault.
Sorry Trump supporters.
I don't like your guy, but I should not have assumed. I can do better than that. Thanks @cabbageguy, and truly – I'm sorry.

I’m glad he did the research and apologized. Takes a big man to issue such a self-reflective retraction, especially when you potentially have so much to lose.
