McConnell was just on the Senate floor torching Democrats for trying to take advantage of the coronavirus crisis to get their unrelated left-wing agenda items into the emergency bill:
I’ve got it cued up to 1:14 where the good part begins. McConnell lays out how House Democrats have openly said they want to use this crisis to push their agenda, quoting Pelosi’s top lieutenant Rep. James Clyburn as saying last week “this is a tremendous opportunity to restrict things to fit our vision.”
He then quoted a Democratic Senator as saying just last night “how many times are we going to get a shot at a one trillion dollar plus program?”
“They ought to be embarrassed!”, McConnell notes, as he says he’s heard from some Democratic Senators who are embarrassed, “talking like this is some juicy political opportunity.” McConnell adds “This isn’t some juicy political opportunity, this is a national emergency!”
McConnell said everything fell apart when Pelosi flew back to Washington yesterday morning, noting they went from serious negotiations and being very close to an agreement to a “left-wing episode of supermarket sweep” of unrelated issues.
McConnell said they are going to vote on the bill in the Senate “in just a few minutes”, essentially calling Democrats on the carpet. We’ll let you know how that turns out.
There’s much, much more in the video so be sure and watch it.
