Supreme Court today hears arguments about Trump’s tax returns…

Democrats have been trying to get their hands on Trump’s tax returns for years now and the case is finally before the Supreme Court today:

NY POST – The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear arguments over whether Congress can subpoena President Trump’s personal financial records.

The court will hear two cases which deal with Democrat-led committees subpoenaing the sitting president’s records, including tax returns from Trump’s banks and records from the Trump Organization.

Trump last year asked the Supreme Court to hear his case as he tries to keep eight years of his personal tax returns out of the hands of the Democratic lawmakers, appealing a Second Circuit Court of Appeals decision which backed the committees’ authority.

One House Oversight Committee subpoena came after Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen testified that the president was lying on his tax returns.

The House Intelligence and Financial Services Committees also subpoenaed two banks used by Trump and his business over allegations that he had accepted money from Russia.

Lawyers for Trump argue that state courts should not be allowed to investigate a sitting president, while Trump himself has accused the committees of trying to expose his personal information.

As we reported last November, the Supreme Court blocked subpoenas from House Democrats ordering Trump’s accounting firm Mazars to turn over Trump’s taxes. Now they hear arguments for a ruling that should come in a couple of months.

I’d honestly be surprised if the Supreme Court rules in favor of House Democrats, given that these are Trump’s personal taxes. As I said yesterday, they don’t belong to anyone but Trump and if he doesn’t want to turn them over, he shouldn’t be forced to do so by greedy Democrats who simply want to use them to try and destroy him politically.

Also the people spoke on this issue back in 2016 when Trump was elected without turning his tax returns over. Sure, he’d said he would do so when his ‘audit’ was completed. But things became so toxic, so quickly, that he’s decided not to do so. The people will have the opportunity to speak on that issue again in November when they chose whether to vote for Trump. Let the people decide if they are ok with Trump not turning over his tax returns. That’s my verdict.
