Hollywood is at it again with a small group of white celebrities cutting a video for ‘ITakeResponsibility.Org’ in order to take responsibility for police brutality against black Americans. Seriously. It’s about as sanctimonious and smug as it gets:

Notice the video is in ‘black and white’ to symbolize white on black ‘brutality’, but all it does is emphasize their whiteness.
But even more than that, it’s that the video is so over the top. To give you an idea in case you didn’t watch it, here are few phrases from the video:
“I take responsibility for every unchecked moment, for every not so funny joke, for every unfair stereotype, for every time I explained away police brutality or turned a blind eye…”
“Black people are being slaughtered in the streets, killed in their own homes… We are done watching them die, we are no longer bystanders.”
“Going for a job should not be a death sentence. Sleeping in your own home should not be a death sentence. Playing video games with your nephew should not be a death sentence. Shopping in a store should not be a death sentence. Business as usual should not be a death sentence.”
I believe Ashley St. Clair summed it up best:
The only thing missing from this is all of them holding up a newspaper with today’s date

Exactly! You’d think we were living back in the days of the KKK lynching black men and women and setting fire to crosses in their front yards; back in the days of Jim Crow laws.
If you happen to make it to the end of the video it gets even worse, with Aaron Paul summoning his Jesse Pinkman rage for the final moment. You just have to see it.
The funny thing is that this video is getting trounced by people all over the spectrum, from the left to the right. I haven’t seen one person yet praising this video in a serious way:

Terrible lack of diversity in this video. https://t.co/TY7zZGVcjd

This ritual of self-flagellation is beyond bad comedy. They might as well be walking barefoot in the streets wearing sackcloth and ashes. https://t.co/kCSAIppu2q

If they did one of these in support of trans people, I would detransition. https://t.co/R74TrRd38n

oh man, I guess their hearts are in the right place, and I'm white and no one needs to hear from me either, but this is the exact opposite of understanding structural racism https://t.co/KF3zT02YB3
