During last night’s GOP debate, Rick Santorum only got a handful of direct questions – none of them having to do with social issues like gay marriage, abortion, or evolution vs. creationism. So as you might expect, Santorum didn’t talk much about gay marriage, abortion, or evolution vs. creationism. Nevertheless, in this post-debate exchange Chris Matthews suggests to Santorum that he was basically dodging those hot-button issues by not bringing them up on his own in any of his answers.
Santorum’s bemused response speaks for itself, and I love it.
