The House today, in a pro-forma session, failed to increase the amount individuals get in the COVID relief bill to $2,000:
HOYER just asked for unanimous consent to vote on a bill to increase COVID relief direct payments from $600 to $2000 (Pres Trump's request). He is told that the @GOPLeader McCarthy needs to consent (he does not), so the bill fails.

Rep WITTMAN then asked for unanimous consent to vote on bill to revisit the foreign aid in the omnibus spending bill, which Trump objected to in his video (but which lines up w/ his budget request). He's told he needs support of Speaker and Min Leader (he does not), so it fails.

I don’t know which Republican objected, but I don’t think it matters. It was never going to pass via unanimous consent.
But it’s not over yet. Pelosi will bring back the House to vote on this on Monday. Since they control the House, it’s possible it could pass at that point:
Pelosi announces she'll bring the House back Monday for a recorded vote on the bill to provide $2K direct payments after Republicans just blocked the unanimous consent. Here's the text. pic.twitter.com/eHfwsC1YAd

If the House passes it, the Senate will have to deal with it. It’s possible that it could pass the Senate if McConnell puts it up for a vote and a few Republicans join Democrats. I guess we’ll see what happens.
