Attorney Bruce Castor hasn’t done a totally stellar job before the Senate today, but he did get one thing very right. In fact, it’s not even a dispute of what the Democrats and Never Trumps are saying out loud themselves.
The impeachment? It’s not because of what was done or what was said. It’s simple. They’re just afraid of Trump. Afraid of facing him. They’re afraid the American people will choose him again and they want to prevent it.
“Why is the majority of the House of Representatives afraid of the American people?” he said. “We are really here because the majority in the House of Representatives does not want to face Donald Trump as a political rival in the future.”
So he got at least ONE thing right, if you’re keeping count. Maybe JUST one, but still.

Look, Castor isn’t the greatest orator of his generation. Even Breitbart has called out his “rambling” and sputtering today. Plus he outright conceded the election of Biden as the legitimate will of the people, and I’m not convinced he did it on purpose.
But on this? He’s totally right. And succinctly.
