Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek was asked about Gina Carano’s firing during a shareholder’s meeting and actually claimed Disney fired Carano because they stand for ‘universal values’ or something:
THR – Asked by a caller during the Q&A portion if Disney had a “black list,” insinuating Carano, by name, was targeted for her conservative politics, Chapek responded that he does not see Disney as “left-leaning or right-leaning” and that Disney stands “for values that are universal: Values of respect, values of decency, values of integrity and values of inclusion. And we seek to have the content that we make reflective of the rich diversity of the world we live in. And I think that’s a world we should all live in harmony and peace.”
What in the heck is Chapek talking about?!?
In the social media post that got her fired, Carano’s point was about respect, decency, integrity and inclusion! That’s exactly what she was arguing for which triggered the hell out of the woke left.
Just as a reminder, here’s what she said:
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children.
Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
She’s arguing that hating someone for their political views, which is the opposite of respect, decency, integrity and inclusion, can potentially lead to horrible atrocities like what happened in Nazi Germany. And she’s not wrong in the least!
Chapek claims that Disney is left leaning (or right leaning), but clearly that’s not the case because his universal values response is a complete lie. He should just admit that Disney bowed to the leftist woke mob who were outraged when they saw themselves in the mirror of Carano’s social media post as the Nazis.
Which by the way, Carano never said anything about Democrats or Republicans in the post. That was a ‘reflection’ that Democrats themselves saw and I think, rightly so.
