CNN analyst Bakari Sellers asked on Twitter today how pro-lifers square being pro-life with being pro death penalty. He said that he was asking the question sincerely to understand, but the got an earful back:
Can I ask an honest question, for my understanding? Please don’t jump in trying to shame folk.
Politically, religiously, and ideologically how do square being pro-life with being pro death penalty?
I’m sincerely interested in understanding….

I don’t know how someone who is considered an ‘analyst’ on the news and is said to be a lawyer can’t figure this one out. I mean it really isn’t hard, as pro-lifers quickly pointed out to him:
Because there is an essential difference between a convicted murderer and an unborn child https://t.co/K3OTqdXz1m

If only liberals had as much compassion for unborn babies as they do convicted murderers. https://t.co/IMiceuj0SB

I'm against the death penalty.
But pro-life means you're against the killing of a 100% absolutely innocent life (an unborn child).
The death penalty is for people convicted of capital murder for actions they did well after leaving the womb.
This isn't difficult. https://t.co/MfJ61mljPv

'How are you okay killing murderers but not babies?' https://t.co/kNBqDpDF1w

This question by Sellers is completely disingenuous, as it draws an absurd equivalency between someone convicted of a heinous crime and someone who hasn’t even been born yet. There is only one true equivalency here and it is murder. Pro-lifers are against murder in the womb and against murder outside of the womb. That’s the real question that people like Sellers need to ask themselves.
