Yesterday the White House put out a statement on their Twitter account touting the reduction in price of cookout on the 4th of July:
Planning a cookout this year? Ketchup on the news. According to the Farm Bureau, the cost of a 4th of July BBQ is down from last year. It’s a fact you must-hear(d). Hot dog, the Biden economic plan is working. And that’s something we can all relish. pic.twitter.com/7h9qLauIbC

16 cents? That’s what they are touting and taking credit for? Geez, that’s not enough to even care about.
Peter Doocy asked Psaki about this today:
Doocy asks “So, does the White House think that 16 cents off of a barbecue has more of an impact on people’s lives than gas being a dollar more this time at this 4th of July?”
Psaki responds with the dumbest response, saying “if you don’t like hot dogs, you may not care of the reduction of cost.”
Um, that misses the point entirely. People are spending over a dollar more on average in gas prices, which means it costs them more just to get to the cookout with their friends. A lot more than 16 cents.
The other way to look at this is that if all team Biden can come up with to celebrate is 16 cents off your 4th of July cookout, then it shows just how terribly they are doing with the economy. Inflation is up, which means prices are up across the board. Gas prices are up. Business are going out of business because they can’t find people who want to work because they make too much on unemployment. But hey, you get 16 cents off your holiday cookout!
How pathetic.
UPDATE: House Republicans tweeted an article claiming hotdogs are at a decade high in price. Woops!
"Frankfurters for the grill average 3.652 per pound, the highest May number recorded in the last decade by BLS." https://t.co/JYbWOpp6hV
