Sheriff Alex Alex Villanueva has had enough of bureaucrats restricting American liberty and freedom in hysterical reactions to medical news and information that they either don’t understand, or cynically manipulate for their own nefarious ends.
He didn’t put it quite that way but the result is the same. He says the new LA County mask mandate is BS and he’s not going to do it.
Here’s his statement:
Forcing the vaccinated and those who already contracted COVID-19 to wear masks indoors is not backed by science and contradicts the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) has authority to enforce the order, but the underfunded/defunded Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will not expend our limited resources and instead ask for voluntary compliance. We encourage the DPH to work collaboratively with the Board of Supervisors and law enforcement to establish mandates that are both achievable and supported by science.
Notice that “underfunded” jab in there. That’s right, DEFUNDERS, you can’t have your mask and eat it too.
The New York Post adds that “the mandate — which applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated people in shops, gyms and retail stores, as well as restaurants when not eating or drinking — takes effect just before midnight on Saturday.”
This is a much bigger development than the MSM will let on. We can hope and expect that other police departments are going to follow suit and refuse to participate in this political charade.
