Biden: “Nobody expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening”

Biden admitted today that “nobody expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening” when asked what’s next because the sanctions clearly have not deterred Putin:

 
Biden was also asked if he thought these sanctions would be as devastating as Russian missiles, bullets, and tanks in Ukraine.

He said ‘yes’.

This makes little sense. On the one hand he claims that the ‘deterrence’ sanctions weren’t meant to deter Putin from invading. On the other hand, he says they will be as effective as ‘bullets, tanks and missiles’. How can this be?

 

 

CNN and NBC both put tough questions to Biden on sanctions. CNN asked why Biden isn’t personally sanctioning Putin today, which Biden completely ignored. NBC asked that given the full scale invasion, what more is Biden waiting for before implementing tougher sanctions, like disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT International Banking system.

Biden defended his sanctions as the toughest there’s ever been and told Alexander to ask him about this in another month when the sanctions have had time to work:

A month from now??? The full-scale invasion is happening right now. What good is a month from now on anything going to do?

 

 

Lastly, when Biden was asked if he was encouraging China to help isolate Russia, Biden basically said NO COMMENT:
