The Loudoun County School Board has just lost their bid in court to shut down the grand jury investigation into their mishandling of a sexual assault of two different students at two different high schools by a 15-year-old.
The judge felt that the leftist school board had not proven their argument that they would suffer irreparable harm because of the investigation:
BREAKING: The judge supervising the special grand jury looking into the school system has denied most of the lawsuit by the Loudoun County School Board seeking to halt the special grand jury empaneled by AG @JasonMiyaresVA. The special grand jury will continue its work. pic.twitter.com/vgAIL6xylH

Judge James Plowman said the Loudoun County School Board had failed to show they would suffer irreparable harm if the special grand jury continued. Even if indictments occur, or the special grand jury issues a report, Plowman said there are avenues for the school board.

Arguing for the school board, attorneys Robert Falconi and Steven Webster argued the special grand jury wasn’t limiting its questions to potential criminal wrongdoing, and was focusing on things ranging from transgender issues and Facebook posts.

Quoting from the Virginia handbook for jurors, Webster said the special grand jury could “not be convened to go on a fishing expedition,” and “not to determine if a law is good or bad.” In addition, the school board said SGJ investigators were asking qs….

…that violate the attorney-client privilege, and that people who were subpoenaed (improperly, accdng to the school board lawsuit) couldn’t just ignore subpoenas, without facing contempt charges.

Arguing for AG @JasonMiyaresVA was deputy AG Steven Popps. He told Judge Plowman EO 4 and the special grand jury investigation were legal and constitutional: “The School Board does not get to determine the scope of the investigation. The School Board is not above the law.”

Deputy AG Steven Popps: “The School Board does not get to tell the special grand jury what witnesses they get to talk with.” The school board had argued there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, and the goal of the SGJ was to release a report critical of LCSB policies.

I’m glad the judge is allowing the grand jury to continue.
Hopefully parents will get some real answers on the ‘woke’ handling of these sexual assaults and these board members will be held accountable.
