Joe Biden told a reporter today that the country wouldn’t be going into a recession, claiming employment is still great and people are still investing:

This from the same man who claimed we wouldn’t be dealing with rampant long-term inflation a year ago. And here we are with exactly that.
And did you hear him say “my hope is we go from this rapid growth to steady growth”? What rapid growth? With prices higher than every, everyone’s paychecks are getting smaller and smaller. People are spending more for less and he speaks as though the economy is flourishing.
And again, I just don’t understand these employment numbers. It seems businesses are still having lots of trouble with staffing, with some closing down because they can’t get the workers. Biden speaks as though unemployment is fantastic but the reality on the ground suggests otherwise.
I don’t know of anything about this economy that I would say is doing great. But then I’m not trying to pull a sith lord mind trick on everyone.
