Google holding up Truth Social app for Android…

Google is holding up the Truth Social app from being avaiable for download on Android devices.

According to reports, they claim there isn’t enough moderation of the platform to comply with their terms of service.

Here’s more via The Hill:

Content moderation concerns are holding up the approval of former President Trump’s Truth Social app on Android devices, a Google spokesperson said Tuesday.

Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes claimed last week that the Android version of the app was ready and waiting on Google’s approval.

However, a Google spokesperson said in a statement that the platform lacks the “effective” content moderation needed to meet the Google Play app store’s terms of service.

“On August 19 we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play,” the spokesperson said.

Axios first reported on Google’s hold up of the app.

In particular, Google is concerned about violations of its policies prohibiting content with physical threats and incitements to violence.

The Google spokesperson added that the social media company acknowledged the feedback and is working on addressing the issue.

There are some saying the app has been barred from the Google Play store. Even The Hill said so in their title. But it’s not true, at least yet.

Google clearly said in this article that Truth Social is working to add moderation to comply with their demands. So at the moment the app is just delayed.

That being said, the app has been available on Apple devices and I looks to me that Google is abusing it’s power in creating unnecessary hurdles for Truth Social to jump through, all because it belongs to Trump.

Google has become a severe moderator on its own platforms, penalizing Trump rhetoric to the point that RSBN can’t even livestream his rallies on Youtube any longer. Thank goodness for Rumble!

So it’s no shock to me that they are doing this to Truth Social. Google long ago dropped their motto ‘don’t be evil’.
