WATCH LIVE: House continues to vote for Speaker on Day 2 –> [BREAKING: McCarthy loses 6th ballot, House adjourns]

It’s day two of the House voting to select their new Speaker and it begins at noon today.

Yesterday we saw three failed ballot votes for McCarthy and today should start with the fourth ballot.

The question is will the opposition to McCarthy shrink or grow today.

You can watch it live below:

UPDATE: CNN reported that Republicans were hoping to adjourn the House as soon as it came in session, but Democrats don’t want to do that because they want the votes to continue for now.And it looks like they will.

UPDATE 2: McCarthy has just lost the fourth ballot, as there are over five votes for Byron Donalds now. The question becomes now, how many votes will there be for Donalds. Will it be more than 20, or less?

UPDATE 3: There were 20 in opposition on the 4th ballot. Now the 5th ballot has begun and you can watch it on the livestream above. Byron Donalds has once again been nominated.

UPDATE 4: McCarthy has clearly lost the 5th ballot now. It appears the opposition got 20 votes this time again. No one is budging. I guess we’ll proceed to a 6th ballot at some point soon.

UPDATE 5: One Republican voted present during the 4th and 5th ballots. This one was Victoria Spartz, who says this endless voting is getting us nowhere:

UPDATE 6: The 6th ballot has begun. So far McCarthy has been nominated. You can watch the livestream above.

UPDATE 7: McCarthy has lost the 6th ballot and the House has adjourned until 8PM.

Of course this is an open thread.
