As you know Mitch McConnell fell last night and is being treated for the fall in the hospital.
Today his office released another statement that tells us more about what happened and why he’s in the hospital.
According to Politico, McConnell is being treated for a concussion:
Mitch McConnell is being treated for a concussion and will remain in the hospital for several days after a fall, according to a statement from his office.
“Leader McConnell tripped at a dinner event Wednesday evening and has been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion,” David Popp, a McConnell spokesperson, said Thursday. “He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment.”
Staff gave GOP senators a similar update to the public statement at a party lunch Thursday, according to one Republican senator, who said McConnell could potentially return to the Senate next week.
The fall took place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel at a private dinner.
McConnell, who is 81 and suffered from polio as a child, previously fractured his shoulder in 2019 after tripping on his patio at home.
I’ve noticed certain people on Twitter mocking McConnell for his fall, even before they knew his health status and it’s in very poor taste. Especially considering he’s had polio and that’s caused him to have problems with falling.
