Here’s everything we know about the Old National Bank gunman in Louisville

More details have come in about the gunman today at the Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky.

We already know that is name is Conner Sturgeon, 23, and that he was an employee of the bank.

But here’s more from the New York Post:

Sturgeon worked as a summer intern for the bank for three consecutive years, eventually joining as a commercial development professional in 2021 and a full-time associate and portfolio banker last year, according to his LinkedIn account.

Sturgeon had been told he was going to be fired from the bank, according to CNN, who also reported he had left a note for his parents and a friend saying he was going to shoot up the bank.

Sturgeon was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a master of science in finance in 2020.

His father, Todd, is notably a former boys basketball coach at the University of Indianapolis, leading the team from 1992 to 2007 in five NCAA tournament appearances.The father is now a US history teacher at Floyd Central High School in Indiana, which Sturgeon also attended.

Sturgeon was an all-round athlete, playing basketball, football and running track at school, according to an old classmate.

The classmate, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Daily Beast Sturgeon wore a helmet while playing due to multiple concussions he suffered while playing football.

“We played football together in eighth grade. He was out most of the year because he had multiple concussions,” he said. “Then he had a couple more in high school.”

One of the keys here is that Sturgeon had been told he was going to be fired. I would think that would be a leading contender for motive, even though I’m sure it’s way more complicated than that.

It was also reported that he told his friend that he was suicidal and that he was going to shoot up the bank. I don’t know if that’s in addition to the note he reportedly left his parents and friend that he was going to commit the mass shooting.

We also know that he appeared to support the transgender movement by putting his pronouns on linked-in, which means he was more than likely a Democrat. Not sure that matters but I’m just pointing it out.
