Team Trump takes DeSantis out of context to claim he was bashing Trump for Jan 6th

Trump influencer Alex Bruesewitz, who has gained a very large following of over 340k, took DeSantis out of context today to smear him as someone bashing Trump for January 6th.

Here’s what he wrote:

 
This was followed up by Trump spox Steven Cheung:

But this isn’t what DeSantis was saying at all. In fact, watch for yourself and see if you agree with Team Trump:

“So look, there’s a difference between being brought up on criminal charges and doing things like, for example, I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while, while things were going on. He should have come out more forcefully, of course, that. But to try to criminalize that, that’s a different issue entirely, and I think that we want to be in a situation where, you know, you don’t have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail. And that unfortunately is what we’re seeing now.”

DeSantis was saying Trump should have done more, early on, to stop the rioting that was going on in the Capitol. He wasn’t saying Trump caused the rioting or that Trump should be prosecuted for anything. He’s not Adam Kinzinger or Liz Cheney by any stretch. Why they feel the need to smear DeSantis, I don’t know. I guess they are doing what Trump tells them to do, which is what Trump does himself.
