There’s a movement among some MAGA Republicans in Congress to draft Donald Trump as the next speaker of the House. It started last night with Troy Nehls and has progressed to others like MTG saying she’d support it.
As a result, Trump was just asked if he would run for speaker and he wouldn’t say no.

I think this is just Trump being Trump. There’s no way with all that he has on his plate, including running for president, that he would even consider being a lowly House Speaker.
Also, it’s a terrible idea. He’s not even remotely acquainted with how the House operates and I just don’t think he’d be a good speaker of the House, especially given his proclivity in making deals the establishment would love. Why these Republicans are trying to recruit him I do not know, other than to score brownie points…
