Jim Jordan has just lost his second vote to be speaker of the House, losing by two more votes than he did yesterday.
Today Jordan only got 199 votes and lost 22 votes from obstinate Republicans:
So what happens next? There could be a third vote, but considering that Jordan’s vote is going the wrong way, I wouldn’t expect that any time soon.
There is reporting that suggests Republicans will return to another caucus meeting after this vote in order to see where they go from here:
NEW — HOUSE REPUBLICANS are likely to go into a closed party meeting after JORDAN loses this vote.

JORDAN is huddling with MCCARTHY right now.
The question here is does the House vote again on Jordan's nom? Do they go to conference? Do they do a resolution?
Stay tuned

22 against Jordan is a huge number. But it's a lot better than some House Republicans had been privately predicting.
Jordan needs to decide whether he wants to go to a closed meeting or not — or run this vote again. There hasn't been much movement at all in Jordan's direction…

House Republicans right now are waiting on Jim Jordan to decide his next move, per GOP sources involved in the decision making process.

UPDATE: The House is officially in recess as we await the next move from House Republicans. If they got into a closed door conference, then the move to make McHenry a permanent pro tem speaker will likely be put forward.
UPDATE: Jim Jordan is reportedly staying in the race and the next vote won’t be before tomorrow at noon:
NEW: JORDAN says he doesn’t expect another vote to happen today.
He is staying in speaker race for now.
